Our Students

Currently, Good Shepherd School has 117 students enrolled in Kindergarten through Grade Eight.

The majority of our students reside in the surrounding neighborhood; however, some of our students commute from Duquesne, Homestead, Penn Hills, the City of Pittsburgh, and Monroeville. Our student body reflects a cross section of religious denominations, ability levels, and multicultural backgrounds.

Good Shepherd has a total of 84 families with 52 families belonging to the parish, eight families from outside the parish, and 24 non-Catholic families. Of these households 64 have one child enrolled; eight have two students enrolled; 10 have three students enrolled; two have four or more children enrolled.

Our classes average 16 students with the smallest class being 9 students. Due to the economically depressed surrounding communities we are an inner-city school educating our at-risk students using a combination of traditional teaching methods and lessons emphasizing kinesthetic, inquiry-based projects.

Good Shepherd School Houses 2 classrooms of 3 & 4 yr. olds from the 4-Kids Preschool Center run by Heritage Community Initiatives.
